Fun Friday

My station for Fun Friday was called Tasty Tarantulas, edible tarantulas made from Nutella, Ritz Crackers, Pretzel Sticks and
an M&M to represent the 8 eyes of a tarantula .

I’ve included this picture of three of our 8th grade students for a special reason. It feels like just yesterday they were in my class—your children’s age—laughing and making edible tarantulas. Time truly flies, and seeing them now reminds me how quickly our little learners grow. Let’s cherish every moment, because before we know it, they’ll be the ones in this photo.

The primary purpose of the IMSE Auditory Drill is to develop automaticity in the sound-symbol relationship by having students hear a sound and quickly write the corresponding letter(s) (grapheme), reinforcing this connection through writing and verbalizing the letter name and sound. This exercise supports spelling and reading by strengthening phonemic awareness, enhancing the ability to decode words and map sounds to print, and preparing the brain for the encoding process of writing.
